Guide: Kara Attunement Process

Starting the Process

1. Get to level 70

2. (Optional) Go to the World's End Tavern. There is a mage there, andhe asks you go to to the tower of Karazhan and talk to his master there.

3. Go to Karazhan, located in the Deadwind Pass, between the Swamp of Sorrows and Duskwood. Once there, turn in the quest which you got in step two (optional).

4. Accept and do the two quests from the guy at the front door. He asks you to do two things: kill some ghosts, and get some crystal readings from two underground pools. The pools are located in the cellar nearby.

5. Once you finish and turn in those two quests, you will get a quest to talk to Khadgar, the mage who is in the middle of Shattrath next to A'dal, and ask him for assistance for getting into the tower.

6. Talk to Khadgar to listen to his story about his apprenticeship to Medivh, his late master. Eventually, you will be asked to get the first part of the key fragment: located at the very end of the Shadow Labyrinth dungeon, the level 70 dungeon of the Auchindoun set, and considered one of the hardest level 70 non-heroic five-man instances in the game (the three hardest are Shattered Halls, Shadow Labyrinth, and the Arcatraz).

7. You must get to the end of SL to attain the key fragment. While you do NOT have to kill the last boss to attain the fragment, you still have to kill the elite guarding it: opening the Arcane Container in the left corner will release the guardian, who drops the key fragment once killed.

8. Upon returning to Khadgar with the first key fragment, you are asked to attain the last two fragments: one from the Steamvault, in Coilfang Reservoir, and the other from the Arcatraz, the hardest of the Tempest Keep five-man instances.

The Tempest Keep Fragment

This key fragment is located in the Arcatraz, considered the hardest of the TK five-mans. To get to any of the TK instances requires a flying mount or flight form, and you cannot be summoned there.

To reach the key fragment, you must go to the room with the first boss in it, and continue up the ramp on the right. You do not have to fight the boss to get to the ramp. At the top of the ramp, continue across the bridge, and once you have at least partially cleared the next room, you can get the fragment: the Arcane Container in the corner directly to the right of the first entrance of the room.

The Coilfang Fragment

This key fragment is located in the Steamvault, the level 70 instance of the Coilfang set.

To reach the fragment, simply make your way through the mobs and patrols towards the first boss. When you get to the cliff with the water below, jump and swim down. The Arcane Container is at the bottom of the water. As with the TK fragment, you do not need to fight the boss to recieve the fragment.

Finishing the Key

Once you return to Khadgar with the last two key fragments, he remakes the key for you, but you are not done yet. The final step of the quest is to get the key blessed by Medivh himself, in the Black Morass instance of the Caverns of Time, in Tanaris.

This instance is extremely hard if not geared properly, as taking down the portal guardians in enough time for the next wave is difficult with low DPS groups. You must fully complete Black Morass for Medivh (who you are protecting) to bless your key. After you have defended Medivh from the 18 waves of guardians and adds (google Black Morass to find a strat guide for it), he will bless the key and you will be able to return to Khadgar to claim your prize: access to the Tower of Karazhan, the first raid instance for young 70s.
